Running my Model 5

I haven't had a chance to test my model 5. Do I need a motor starter / capacitors to run it? It's 220 volt single phase. It draws 60 full load amps..

No caps. It has a repulsion motor on it, so no need for caps.

When I ran my single phase mod 5 I hooked it directly to the breaker and turned the breaker on.
I put a 50 amp breaker in my panel which has 200 amp service so I figured it would be ok for minimal use.

Ok, just to make sure I'm going to ask the stupid question. This is single phase correct? I'm assuming so based off the amps but for the sake of not frying motors!

Would you happen to have any pictures of the inside of the single phase motor on your Model-5? Does it have a wound rotor with brushes? What voltages will it run on? I have an older 3-phase Model-5 so I'm curious about how the motors compare.

Thanks for the pic'. That's a big commutator. Did you resurface it?
Are all large 2-phase siren motors of the repulsion design with wound rotors? I suppose a typical 2-phase induction motor with a squirrel cage rotor and starter winding would be physically two large for a siren.

No. The motor hasn't been used. It was a new old stock spare I got with a load of stuff several years ago.
I got three model 5 motors, three stators and two rotors from a power company that had them as spare parts along with a ton of other unused spares
that they bought from Federal probably in the 80s some time. The parts were spares for their nuclear plant warning system.
As far as I know the motors had never been run before I got them. They still had the wax sealer and tags on the motor shafts when I got them.
I was supposed to get 3 rotors but they shorted me one rotor so now I have an incomplete siren. I just need the rotor. I doubt I'll ever find one.
