The Siren Board

Back in 2008, I did a siren hunt in Orange County and one member here who used to live in Anaheim in the 70's mentioned a Thunderbolt at Brookhurst park which he lived a block from. https://airraidsirens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3628

Anaheim's sirens are now long gone; they stopped testing in June of 1985 according to an article I found and were later removed in the late 80's to early 90's. However, an older public works guy told me if I looked around, I may still be able to find the concrete pads that they mounted the blower on. He knew of one at Juarez Park on 841 S. Sunkist Street.

I've been to that park a few times but last Wednesday was when I finally took pictures. It's located near the south-east corner of the park.



Closeup, you can still make out the marks from the blower frame.



Since I work in the area now, I hope to find more whenever I'm on break.

I wonder where the thunderbolts went? You know there is a thunderbolt right across from knotts berry farm right? (Which I interestingly missed when we drove by it...)

It's kind of interesting to see what remains of old sirens after they've been gone for a while. In atlanta, there are a few old siren poles, and over in DeKalb County, there's poles with blower pipes on them from their old system of Thunderbolts, even the actual siren (no blower on controls) still remains in place.
