I finally got around to fixing and installing the other model 2 siren at the other fire station. For this, I sent out the motor to be rewound, and replaced the bearings. I then built a small cupola style housing for it to sit on the roof. Wiring was fairly straight forward, except for the contactor to FC wiring. That was fairly easy to straighten out with the help from holler. Wouldn't have been able to complete it without his help. I was able to get a short recording of the attack cycle. For now it is just going to be sounded for a 1 minute attack cycle for fire calls until people are used to hearing it. After a few months it will go to the full two minutes like at the other station. I still have to put up the larger STH-10 at the other station with the model 2, but that will have to wait until the fall when I have more time.
As for the siren, it did not work when I first located it. After testing, I determined it to be an open in the field. I sent it out for repair, and was able to hear it run again. It does not get to the same pitch as a normal model 2, but I figure this is just simply do the rewind, and I like the lower pitch anyway. It probably loses a few Dbs, but the main purpose of this is to warn motorists on the heavily traveled road that equipment/ personnel will be entering the roadway, which it does a great job of. I like the way it turned out anyway.
