The Siren Board

As of August 11, 2014 the Wilmore Fire Company is closed. They also owned a Fedelcode Model 2.



Also on a note, Menoher Heights Fire Co closed a couple years back, and their Model 5/7(8 port) is still there.

Why on earth would you close a FD?

They did it to save money, but they could of merged with Portage like Cassandra did.

Isn't there a recording on YouTube or somewhere of that Model 5? Or am I misremembering?

Also the Model 5 in your pic was replaced by a Federal Eclipse 8 siren.

Cassandra is a small borough and they still have a Fire Dept.
Also they have an old Sentry 10v. They used to use a Federal Model 5/7.

No, the Wilmore Fire Department was closed down so they don't have a fire department in the town anymore.... but let me expand on this answer a bit and explain. Here in the great state of Pennsylvania we have fire departments on top of fire departments, so while having a fire department close in say... Wyoming would be a huge problem and a life safety risk to large to mention since the stations are laid out with so much distance between them. Here in Pa though, with Wilmore closing the next closest station would be either Portage at 3 miles or Summerhill Borough (also 3 miles), also South Fork is only 4.5 miles away and Beaverdale clocks in at 6 miles away...so as you can see the town of Wilmore is still well protected just not with it's own borough fire department. Having said all of this, the closing of the firehouse in Wilmore has just as much to do with politics between the town board and the fire department as it does for whatever cockamamie reason the town is stating for closing them. There was a rift between the fire chief and governing body of the town of Wilmore (with a population of 252 people).

Summerhill Borough (Station 86) will take charge of the fire/rescue ops. Also Summerhill Borough has a Model 5.

I hope someone can get that Model 2 before they scrap it.
