Hey guys, I was wondering if it was possible to change a SS2000D encoder from FSK to DTMF. The reason is is that I have located a encoder that is FSK but our sirens are DTMF. I have FSPWARE and I am not sure if that could program the encoder.

I think the SS2000 requires SCFDware instead of FSPware.
Maybe Derek will chime in on this.

You will need Federal's SSLoader program in order to program your encoder, as well as the appropriate serial cable and adapter to connect it to your PC. To answer your question about the DTMF: yes, you can program the SS2000 encoders for pretty much any basic encoding format (i.e. DTMF, single and two-tone sequential, FSK, etc.) with the exception of another manufacturer's own proprietary format, like Whelen's 10-digit fast DTMF for instance.

You will also need a radio that is on the same Radio frequency as your sirens. The SS2000D hooks up to the radio and when you send a command from the SS2000D it will send it through the radio triggering your sirens.

Yeah, I knew that. Does anybody know what kind of radio would be best for hooking up to this?

Is it going to be actually used for activations or just as a play pretty?
If it's going to be transmitting it will need a narrowband radio, or one able to be switched over to narrowband. Not sure if the encoder already has a plug for a particular make/model of radio (ex. Motorola Radius) or if the user will have to wire up the interface.
