Yeah, X-cel is up here too. It used to be NSP, then they acquired it.

Yesterday, while heading north, I was surprised to discover this dark brown Thunderbolt on top of the tall bank building.
(Perhaps it has been painted the same color as the bank building.)

Map view is looking east to best reveal the horn. (Horn points same direction as shadow) (Try other perspectives.)
(From this view it is at the nearest third (imaginary) increment line of the white machine room roof on the right [south])

It is southeast Denver, east side of Yosemite St. south of US-285 (Hampden Ave)

Apparently it's blower is inside the elevator room!

Not working?
Yesterday the horn was facing the same direction as seen in this aerial view!

Three sirens near one another!
There is a new Whelen omni-directional not too far east of this one, just east of the Super Walmart. Looking east beyond the Whelen, an SD-10 at Kenney Golf Course is in view!

View looking north, Whelen Omni-directional (4:00 from red automobile)(East Hampden Ave is at top of view.)
Halfway down the pole you can see the solar panels which power the batteries.

Further east on Hampden where it is curving north, a yellow SD-10 (10:00 from Kenney Golf Course clubhouse)

Not far northwest of the bank building mentioned above is this yellow Thunderbolt on Hamilton Middle school.
Blower also appears protected inside the machine room.
(I have never seen this done before. Is this unique to Denver?)

I am unable to pan out enough to show all four sirens within one view.

Federal Signal Model 5 or something on school roof?
From the street only a very large shallow CD yellow rain cap can be seen.

During April 11, 2007, 11 a.m. test, the horn did not turn. Is stuck facing south.

Allertor... Englewood Fire and Police Center Dispatch / Fire Station / Police station. Is pointing west in only direction I have ever seen it point.
It did not operate when Englewood dispatch pressed the button as I stood by to record it November 8, 2006.

I don't know what other cities do, but Omaha's monthly test is a full three minutes of alert. Waldport, Oregon, on the other hand, is only 30 seconds, but it is weekly.

Usually test patterns vary. An average test pattern is either a short growl, 30 seconds, or 3 minutes, depending on the city.

Come on Robert, you've got upwards of 1200 posts and you don't know how to use the Img button?

I'll learn what is done in Denver.
Englewood does not know what is going on. I doubt their two Allertors work.
Aurora does silent tests on their Whelen sirens and a live test once a year - they think.

Correct - I do not undertstand the Img button.
Are you referring to getting the map views to appear,
or photos stored in this computer?
Thank you, Munk

Whelen 3016 at I-225 and Mississippi Ave in Aurora, CO (Looking west)
One of 41 Whelen sirens throughout the city.

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&c ... &encType=1

During Aurora's 7 p.m. 4-26 tornado warning (no tornado) the sirens wavered up and down, not up to a long steady tone, then down.

Here is a picture I took a while back of the siren that you said is one of the tallest.
