Federal 2001 Series Expansion

So, the Equinox isn't anything really new to us, however, I just noticed that Federal has combined both the 2001-130 and the Equinox to make the 2001 series on their website. What's interesting is that they aren't very specific on the output rating, but they indicate that the 70db range for the 2001-130 is now 6,500' and the Equinox is 6,100'.

This is what I always wanted them to do, make the Equinox as a cheaper, slightly quieter alternative to the 508.

The output rating on the site reads 130. It's cool that it's offered in both the equinox and 2001 Hz now.

Looking at the ranges of these sirens kinda struck me as a bit odd. I wonder how they get those numbers. The -130 magically gets 100' more range, and if I remember correctly the Equinox was rated to get around 5000' of 70dB range.

I am actually kind of surprised they even bother to make the 2001 anymore, including a re-housed 508 version....Though this wouldn't be the first time. (A la SD-10/7T) Furthermore, according to their math, the 508 is a vastly superior siren--which in real life it probably is especially since it has a proven track record with the Tempest series of sirens.

I never thought they would bring back the Equinox, I assumed it was a prototype that had pretty much died. Well it is neat to see it back along side the -130. But I wonder what advantage there is between all 3.

The two sirens that come to mind with the Equinox and the 508 is the Hornet and Vortex R1. It's kind of the same deal here: they are both 400 Watts, both make the same sound, but the Vortex has 400' more range. I think the Vortex is more expensive than the Hornet, but I can't confirm. This might be the same case where the 2001-130 and Equinox are cheaper alternatives to the 508. The Equinox has actually been available from FS even after the launch of the 508; they just never pushed it to marketing like they did the 2001-130 and 508. It makes sense to me in that they're making it more known. Maybe we'll see more Equinoxes go up than -130s from now on.

Well, that's good.
It's weird, I always thought they'd make a 10 port 2001 so it's at a "satisfactory" pitch (about a 12 port sound).

Vortex's are 1200-1600 watts. They have 4 drivers compared with the Hornets single driver.

They go from 1 to 4 drivers, 400 to 1600 Watts.
