Testing?

Fri May 04, 2007 5:59 pm

Wednesday at noon the new 2001 roared to life behind my house and it tested for about 20 seconds, A growl test? This is the first time it's ever happened, they usually test for 1-3 minutes.

Im just wondering if your community does growl testing.

Also what tones are used for tornado warnings?
Tuscaloosa County uses alert, attack if a funnel is sighted or on the ground

A growl test is like 3-4 seconds. Here in Topeka they sound the sirens during a test for about a minute and a half, altho sometimes the test can be as long as 3 minutes, or as little as 30. He said during a test, they will sound 45seconds but rarely do they sound that long. Like i said it is usually 1min 45seconds or so. During a Tornado Warning they sirens usually go off for 3 minutes in alert, and it resounded if the tornado warning is extended or a new one is issued.
