Down time for server upgrade/migration

Tue Dec 30, 2014 11:36 pm

Hey guys, so recently I finally got a dedicated server and am going to be migrating ARS to it sometime tonight. During this time, the board will be inaccessible and will probably have some 500 errors or DNS resolver errors (new IP and all) so I just wanted to give you all the heads up. Why I'm saying this now as opposed to my board disabled banners is because once I start the process, the board is going to basically be a black hole. ergo, no notices. Incase anyone is wondering, this upgrade will be super beneficial to ARS. A small taste of what we're going to be moving to: http://www.speedtest.net/result/4022640595.png If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here or hop on IRC since that will still be up once I do the migration. There is no set time to start this process, however downtime should only be a few hours.

I started rsyncing everything earlier this afternoon, so when the time came all I needed to do was dump the database and repoint DNS. Went smoother than expected, though.

This is likely the one night that everyone is not asleep at 1 am!
