The Siren Board

I was browsing DeviantART not too long ago and I stumbled upon this: a double headed, unique, dual toned siren that shares a strong resemblance to a Federal Lion. Picture credit goes to Tronlegacy22 on DeviantART.

It looks like a WWII Gent siren which made a B minor chord.

That's an OLD (with extra emphasis!) Federal Model B. There are two of them in South Carolina I have seen before, one of them is on a mill from the 30s, and from what I told, has been on that mill since day one.

Wow! I didn't know they made those in dual-tone. I wonder if it's possibly more than two tones...but it doesn't really look like it. Wonder what it sounds like.

Federal made a few experimental dual-tone models before WWII, most of which were either 9/12 or 8/12. However, I believe that the first dual-tone sirens in this country came from Decot.

That is definitely a Type B, but I've never seen a dual tone one like that. Seems odd that they'd put two rows of ports on each end instead of two different single-row setups. Also, forgive my soapboxing, but they are not called Lions. The Lion name comes from an advertisement that Federal put out in the 20s that says it has the roar of a lion. I've been up close with the one in Ririe, ID and the plate definitely says "Type Mach. B" on it.

I know that the "Lion" name is fake, I just put it in the subject so people know what I'm talking about. Back on track, that did puzzle me that Federal didn't do two single-toned rotors instead of two dual-toned rotors.
