Rare CAM Model 17 Siren

Sat Feb 07, 2015 5:05 pm

Hi all,

Found this beauty on an auction site...*cough ebay* so if you'd want to find it yourself but this post is just for the siren. I know these are rare but does anyone have an history on them? I think there was a recording somewhere of this type of siren in California? Its 3 phase, 440V. Thanks everyone!

I was told they were actually made by B&M, just renamed by CAM. B&M also made MARS sirens as well.

This looks like the high-pitched siren in Fowler, CA. B&M sirens typically had straight intakes like their vehicle sirens. I'd like to see more on California-made sirens like CAM, B&M, Heath, and Hedberg.

That was the video I was thinking of! Looks to me to be the exact same type of siren.

It is in-fact the same siren.
Notice the identical chopper blades:

I would complain about the bump except that this siren is still listed on eBay at $350.

Those chopper vanes look a LOT like a Federal Type B's.
