The Siren Board

Got a Model 2-240 I recently bought in the mail today. I knew it needed SOME parts, but nothing could prepare me for what I found after disassembling it. It looks like the siren got cooked by lightning, with major damage on the armature. Also the field is missing the leads, there are no brushes or brush caps and the one leg got bent inward during shipping, though it didn't bend the aluminum. Having said that I am going to post in the wanted section some parts I need.

Either lightning or it ran for way too long and blew out the armature. They get hot, solder starts to melt and sling out, next thing you know parts are flying and so is your budget.

Sure that isn't a bullet hole? Never seen bars get distorted like that on the bottom. Almost looks like impact from a speeding object.

I have a stator ring and intake cone if you need them.

No thanks, this is one of the older ones that don't use those parts.

Oh, that must be where that stray round I accidentally fired went!

To be serious, there is a bullet hole in that rain protection thing that goes on the bottom of the chopper tube that looks to be a 9mm Luger sized hole.

I just checked and a .45 fits the hole EXACTLY!

Probably a .38 or .22 Mag since the hole is that small. If it had been a .45 half the commutator would be gone.

If you bought this on ebay and they didn't disclose the damage I would file a dispute.

I bought it from someone who bought it on ebay from a guy in New York. The guy I bought it from received the package and didn't unwrap it from the bubble wrap, and just sold it to me. The pics on ebay didn't show the damage at all, so I bought it as-is. I luckily don't have much money in it.

I think a .38 is the most likely culprit. New York is a state where the .38 "Saturday Night Specials" are really common, especially in areas like NYC.
