Here is an interesting photo I happened across while searching for information about the old Thunderbolt system in Houston, TX.

(Not my Photo)

This is a picture of Fire Station #3 taken back in 1974 and shows (most of) one of the old platform mounted Thunderbolts before it was removed during a renovation of the fire station in 2003-04.

Here's one I found. This is fire station 38 in Dallas, Texas as seen on July 16, 1969. I have no idea if the siren still exists.

Here is one more of Station 48, in Dallas again. Interestingly, this siren has aircraft lights on it. Dated Christmas Eve, 1969

There was a photo from the 1930's of a trade show in California where a number of unusually-shaped Hedberg models are displayed on a table. Anyone remember this?

Raymond (woodyrr) has this photo of the Midwest City fire station comparing a 1940's image to a 2009 image. I think that's a Darley.

Albeit this doesn't really fit the word "vintage" this is the only picture left of any of the Thunderbolts we had in Columbus. I grew up with both of these sirens in particular. They scrapped most of the old system, which included Thunderbolts, SD-10s, and 2001-SRNs.

Tappahannock, VA's first fire station, sometime in the early-mid 1950's:

And for comparison, 60 years later, in late April 2014:
