The Siren Board

I'm considering buying something simple like a Model 2, but I live in soccer mom territory (which is annoying).

If I were to fire it up for a second at least, I'd get reported for disturbing the peace faster than Sonic the Hedgehog. I've become friends with Mark, the director of St. Louis Emergency Management, but I haven't contacted him about it yet. My best guess is that I need a permit or at least simple permission to run it during tests or tornado warnings.

Can I get any suggestions?

If you already know your going to get in trouble don't do it

You could always buy the siren for a restoration project, my Model J and A are really used as display pieces (the J can't run, i dont have 240 power, and the A runs, but I don't run it to often) but as estokke09 says, if you are worried about disrupting the sanity of your neighbor, do not run it if you decide to buy one. I hope this helped!!

If you are in a area where you can't even run it, i wouldn't even bother buying one. But that is up to you.

If you just want a siren that runs off 120v then my suggestion is to take it somewhere where you can blast it. I sweetalked my friend into letting me blast my thunderbolt once without the blower and now that it's at my place with more neighbors and worse police I ow have to take it somewhere if I wanna hear it. (Yes a portable generator will usually be required.)

This would be a very good way to not become friends with Mark the Director.
