Just picked up this gem a Sterling Model F, off eBay recently, and it is looking very nice! I will be doing a test very soon!

Nice score!

On a side note, I'm digging those siren wall decorations

Man, that thing always reminds me of 2 buckets stacked on each other and glued together.

Sorry to bump, but I was attempting to disassemble the siren today and I need some advice. First off, I would assume that the grey protrusions at the top of the motor cover are oil sumps (at least that is my guess) and if they are, are they attached to the motor, and can they be removed? I also tried unscrewing the large screws on the side of the motor cover as well, but it would not budge. Here is a picture. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for double post, but I really would like some advice. I found out the oil dumps on the back of the motor housing are removable and took those off along with the other screws on the sides built there is still no movement. I even tried to lightly tap the housing with a rubber mallet and it still would not budge. Also, I recently did a test, and it sounds like the bearings and brushes need work...

UPDATE 7/2/15 so I finally found a way to take it apart, and I have a few pictures of what the "Damage" is. I have a picture of the chopper, but it is too large to upload. Man was Savage not kidding when he said the top of the motor was made of Zinc...

Yeah. That's.... That's why i don't buy sirens off ebay anymore. They always have some crazy internal damage.
