EOWS 612 siren failed in Madison

I was in Madison WI today to record a EOWS 612 siren on School drive but it didnt go off. The other sirens near me (an SD-10, a 2001-130, and either a 508 or a T-128) all went off. And I went by the 612 by Sherman Middle School both before and after the monthly test and the horns were aiming the same direction both times I went by that siren. So did Dane County deactivate those two EOWS 612's or did they just fail?

My guess as a part of their plan to replace the old sirens over the next few years I would believe it is deactivated if all the other sirens around you activated.

If I remember didn't Dane county upgrade to ATI radios/activation software? I remember reading somewhere a few years back that the EOWS had ATI soundcard put on them. But I may be thinking oF somewhere else.

They used the ATI controllers as radios for their older sirens to make them two way IIRC. They all still had their SiraTone cabinets and were well taken care of with the help of some crafty engineers. If they did decommission this one it'll likely be replaced with an Equinox soon.

A lot of the older sirens in Dane County have been replaced with 508's or Eclipse's. I'm just glad they're not putting in those sh*t 2001's anymore. I'd take a 508 over a 2001 any day of the week!

Was the strong language really necessary?

I'm sorry but I can't stand 2001's.
