Technical Help

Hello Everybody,

I acquired a Federal Electric Model A siren about 2 months ago and then did a partial restoration for the housing and motor. I have been running the siren off of a 12v lipo battery (aka 12vDC obviously), but I was wondering, since the data plate says AC and DC, shouldnt I be able to wire a standard outlet plug directly to the wire leads and run it off of my house current?

Thank-You for your responses

If it's one rated for 12v, i wouldn't plug it in. You would need a step-down transformer that could bring the current down to 12v, but yes it would run. If it's a 110/125 volt model, then yes you could just wire a plug to it and plug it in.

Run it off of an automotive battery charger. Try it on low current first.

I always run mine off of a 12V lawnmower battery, that's plenty enough. You don't want to fry the motor.

Yea I run mine off an 11.1v LiPo battery, I'll put up a video when I get it working
