I was just wondering if there ever was an EOWS prototype installed somewhere - a bit like the Excel T-128s. Thanks

And also, do you know where the first EOWS was installed and what model?

I don't know about a prototype being installed anywhere, but the first generation EOWS was the 115. I don't know for sure, but I the first units went to Ohio. It wasn't very long until they updated to the 1212/612/812 generation EOWS. For whatever reason the 1212 and 812 were not very popular at all, but the 612 lived on to see the early 2000s.

The first 30 I believe were 1212s, but were the same design as the 115, and were called the 1212 before the 115, and back to 1212 when the speakers were redesigned. These were installed in Clermont County, Ohio for the former Zimmer nuclear plant. They were then tied into the county's severe weather siren system, and as far as I know, some still remain, while others have been replaced.

The one at the front gate was destroyed in the March 2, 2012 Tornado Outbreak. A new T-128 stands in it's place. I agree, some of them probably still remain.

slightly on topic, I have the Eows 115/1212 siren that was installed in neville ohio that was located at the corner of Forest and Coffee streets. i bought it from clayton early in 2013 and recently got the controller to fully function in the last couple of months. According to clayton it was part of the zimmer nuclear plant early warning system that was installed as the plant was being built. apperently zimmer approached federal asking for a siren system to fit there needs and federal didnt have anything built so they more or less rushed to build these sirens for them. It is my belief that my siren could be one of the first 30 sent to ohio, as the tag on the battery box has the marking (zpns-15) which zimmer affixed to the sirens when they were installed. i will get pictures of the siren head and controller when i get back home on monday, but the siren head is fully disassembled for storage. The controller is marked siratone eows c/b* while later eows controllers are marked siratone eows* as shown here

There are a few videos for those who are interested in the controller on the internet that me and josh took, as well as when i brought it to the werden open house in 2013. I added the westminister chimes card to the controller, as the siratones that clayton has at his shop didnt have the card installed at the factory when zimmer ordered them.

While we're at it, has there ever been a video of an EOWS doing alternate steady?
