Must have been, since it said "largest of its kind in the world", which would mean it was the P-50.

I like Jim Birrsach's response...they will continue to be annoyed. Hahahahaha!

"When a similar system was tested in 1981, the noise level heated the interior 20 degrees in three minutes."
That is pretty cool. How is the P-50 noise level doing this? Image

Sound = Vibration, Vibration makes heat.

Interesting. Kind of like how a space shuttle heats up during re-entry.

Not even remotely. That's caused by super hot plasma being formed by the pressure wave instigated by the vehicle.

I've read that article before. Not Jim Biersach's proudest moment, but everything published is 100% factual.
ACA was always a controversial company. They preferred to do outdoor testing for the sake of more accurate sound measurements. Indoor acoustic rooms were thought to give inaccurate readings so ACA used them very minimally. The siren described in the article was a P-50. The P-50 is the world's loudest electric siren and the world's loudest dual tone siren.

Here is another article detailing the madness that surrounded Thiensville's old Super Banshee. This was one of the first Super Banshees installed, the siren now sits in ASC's dump.

I think it's actually the friction between the space shuttle and the air.

Close, but you skipped a step. The air vibrating against itself and objects causes friction, which puts off heat. :nerd:
