Well, I live in Rhode Island, and there aren't many warning or old civil defense sirens here. But there is a an ACA Allertor in Excellent shape on the roof of the Rumford center at 20 newman avenue in East Providence. Since it is no longer active I spoke with the owner of the old mill and I might be able to buy it. My question is, Are all Allertors 3 phase??? If you need visual reference, plug address shown above into streetview and look at the corner of the roof of the mill. Any info helps! Thanks

They were available in both single- and three-phase models. Being on a mill, this one is probably three-phase.

I'm pretty sure that's a Mobil Directo. You can see the stuff that goes on the motor (pulleys) from here.

I was about to say, Your allertor is actually a Mobil Directo. A much older machine. Very nice siren I must say. Good luck getting it!

If it is a Mobil Directo it appears to be in very good shape- it doesn't seem like there's much (if any) rust on the projectors.

Mobil Directos started as gasoline powered sirens, and a lot were then converted to electric powered. As far as the single or three phase, I would assume they came in both? I would think that three phase would have been more common though. Regardless of the phase of the siren, Mobil Directos aren't very common anymore. If you are able to nab it they are pretty neat machines. Just note though, cost to remove a siren, especially one as hefty as the Mobil Directo, can run you quite a bit of $$. A crane would be the most feasible way to remove that siren.

Electric Mobil Directos were available in single or three phase. They were once very common but they already became endangered by the 1980s.
You might like to consult Siren_Dude or Holler since they've personally handled Mobil Directos.
