Bowie TX Sirens

Thu Sep 29, 2016 3:36 am

Does anyone have any info on Bowie, TX's sirens? According to their website, they have 12 sirens and they test the first Monday of the month at 7pm. Since I'm in Vernon for work, I was thinking about heading down there on Monday but I can't seem to find a single siren in that town. Any locations or further info would be appreciated!
Kicking it in the siren party since '08

I own: One complete SiraTone, another SiraTone control module, a 1600W MC, 2 old ATI controllers, 2 round ATI horns with drivers, a ATI-DSA 4 thing, a Federal Signal FC, AR timer and Siratrol, and a small CD&F.

Here's a map of the ones that we know the locations of at the moment, but there are supposedly at least two more somewhere that we weren't able to locate. Their whole system is comprised of Model 2s, usually mounted on the tops of telephone poles and last I knew were also interconnected via leased line as well. It's still unclear whether that old Sterling M-5 is considered part of the system or if it's a separate fire siren (which may be decommissioned altogether).

I'm pretty sure you can hear the Sterling sounding off at :13.

Bowie has 12 model 2s and the M. They should all be loaded into the latest Earth map I offered to email earlier this year.

I found one W.S Darley located at a park (I forget the name of the park. It's on my computer but it's acting up right now) I'm planning to see in the summer, also the Emergency Management says the first Monday at 7:00pm but the Police says 6:00pm. Hmmm....

I'd really like to know what park that is in!

Oops never mind turns out I looked closer, it was a Model 2, but the ends are kind of slanted in the shape of a W.S. Darley, sorry y'all for the confusion! But just in case, I'll email the emergency manager asking what sirens he ordered (if he was even there when they were installed) and ask him if he ordered a Darley. I had my hopes up high too! :\

Most of those sirens have been there a long time. It looks as if one or two have been replaced through the years just because of their condition/paint/logo configurations. It's a neat system and there aren't many other systems with a bunch of model 2's like that.
