Dallas Flood Siren System

Thu Jan 31, 2019 5:16 pm

What the heck. This system is a ghost system. Dallas Emergency Management knows nothing about it and they say the water utilities own it. I call them they have no idea it even exists here is the location for the sirens. just paste it in google maps.
Location 32.869497, -96.827551
Location 32.858637, -96.844229

If anyone lives near one take a picture of the label on it and email it to me ([email protected])
or if anyone knows anything about this or has time to call everywhere and ask them. if you find out email me ([email protected])

They’re testing in April. We don’t have much info right now but Jared is on the case. Be patient.

If everyone you have spoke with is clueless, this very well could be a Corp of Engineers project since it is near waterways presumably.

I can't seem to find the first one in SV, but the second one is an interesting setup. Along with an odd Black circular box mounted on the side of the service disconnect, possibly a telephone relay? There also seems to be two stickers on the box that, unfortunately, I can't read from the image, however may contain information about who to call if the siren is going off, vandalized, or it may have a test time. It could also be a Whelen sticker, but it looks unoriginal. It also seems like the Black object on the service disconnect was replaced at some point, because in 2011, it is a small white box, but in the newest image, it's a larger, black one. This suggests the system is still maintained in some way, shape or form, and it would be cool to record something in Dallas that WASN'T a 2001 for a change.

EDIT: The circular box was changed between July 2015 and October 2015.

We’ve known about these things for a while now. Not much is particularly known, other than a test in April will be done (2019) They are active I believe but are only activated once so often. It’s best not to bug people about them until March comes around.....
Then, by all means commence the barrage of question asking lol

Seems as if the City of Dallas installed them they would have used Federal Mods instead since they already have a contract with them using the 2001's.
