Richardson, TX to conduct 3-Minute test of siren system

So evidently, once a year Richardson conducts a full test of their system to ensure it'll support a system-wide full test (city's words not mine)...well, this year's full test is set for this Wednesday. Hopefully I can catch the one at berkner high school.

Looks like it will be a 3 minute test of Alert or Attack but not both. Would be cool to see them do both Alert and the Attack for a full three minute cycle. Most everywhere I have been in Michigan for the past few years is a minute or less of Alert on test day.

Richardson uses alert for tornado warnings, or at least they did when I worked there. They also run the UTD siren system with the T-128's. UTD has a couple DSA's and at least one Modulator. My office was close to a Modulator and you couldn't hear it at all, but could easily hear the 128 almost a mile away, even inside. For whatever reason Richardson has one older 2001 series siren in the system.

Here's a video of a UTD DSA.

Where? I've never seen a 2001 in Richardson. How interesting.

They have two, one at Breckinridge Park (?) and one at the water plant down the road from a T128

Both of those 2001s have since been replaced with T-128s. The old 2001 at the water plant was replaced a good while ago now, but the one at Breckinridge Park seems to have been a fairly recent replacement within the last year. I'm not sure about there being a 2001 down the road from the T-128 at the water plant site, though maybe they relocated the old 2001 elsewhere to expand their siren coverage after they installed the replacement T-128 that's near the entrance to the site? I looked around some on satellite to see if I could find anything else near the T-128 at the water plant but I didn't notice anything that resembles a 2001.

Are those lights some sort of VisuAlert setup like the Whelens in Garland?

Yes. One of the most pointless accessories one could buy for their siren.

Lol supposedly the selling point is so the hearing impaired would know there is an emergency.

Test was a success. Set my phone up outside and expected only 1.5 min of T-128, since I assumed dallas would do a full test...they didn't. Instead, I got the full Richardson test and the dallas growls. I'll put up my recording later today.
