Well I decided to treat myself to a new Lion King LK-JDW245 siren which was purchased direct from the factory. Cathy from Lion King was really easy to communicate with and I had the siren delivered to Australia within a week.
Once the power cable was hooked up I took it outside to test. It is only a short run as it has the potential to freak out not only the close neighbours but the whole valley which we overlook.
The plan is to make a new rotor and stator for one side in a 12 port configuration to get the beautiful dual tone.
It'd be fun to mount one on the roof of a car and plug it into one of those cigarette lighter power inverters and blast it

This siren was $220 USD plus shipping which was the expensive part. I purchased both the LK-JDW245 and the LK-120 hand crank siren with stand and the shipping was $195. It is a lot for the shipping but from an Australian distributor the LK-120 alone costs more than both sirens and the shipping.

You'll need a 12V to 120/240 converter. Even then, the cigarette lighter plug may not supply enough amps.

Is this the larger version of the LK-145?

Yes it is the largest 110V/220V/230V siren they sell.
I have yet to dismantle it but the overall appearance is good. The castings are well finished. The rotors spin freely and speed up easily with no vibration. I am very pleased with it.
I also bought the LK120 hand siren on a stand and that is very nice in build quality and finish.
Overall both sirens are well made and work perfectly.
