Are there any sirens in Key West, Florida?

When I was on vacation in Key West last December, I looked for sirens, but I didn't see any. I only saw some of the Turkey Point Whelens nearby. Kinda worries me if a Hurricane comes along.

I am quite certain those Whelen Vortexes are part of The Turkey Point System.

As I said, the Whelens I saw near Miami are part of the Turkey Point system. :vortex:

I thought I saw what appears to be a sterling or some other horizontal siren on top of the Key West Fire museum(which used to be the old fire department obviously) on Bird's Eye view during a virtual siren hunt a few months ago but I never brought this up as there is no way to tell from streetview and I have not been specifically by the building in a while. For all I know it's an AC unit, but I'm once again only bringing up because directly related and the best chance.

The closest siren system I know of to any of the Keys is the fore mentioned Turkey Point system. Also it is important to remember that hurricanes are not like tornadoes and have days of warning usually now with modern weather forecasting technology, so a siren system would not really be necessary.

I saw the spot on the roof that looked to be made for a Sterling of some kind.

While there used to be sirens in the Keys at the VFDs, there are no sirens there anymore. I believe the last siren was an inactive model 2 near the pumping station on Big Coppit key, but don't quote me on that. The closest thing you can get to a siren down there is the old siren/antenna pole at the old Marathon fire station on the corner of 33rd and US1. There were no sirens ever in Key West to my knowledge, but the VFD's in the keys had sirens.

Why were they all taken down? Did the VFDs close or something?

Either they rusted away or hurricanes literally blew them off the pole. Sirens don't last long in coastal Florida.

As for Key West, I may stand corrected, but it's way to hard to tell. Take a look here:

Either way, Vortexes wouldn't be usable in the Turkey Point system, because Turkey Point uses voice capability over their sirens, and Vortexes aren't voice capable, while the 4000 series (identical appearance to Vortex) is voice capable, which Turkey Point does have some of.
