My wife and I went on vacation to the Black Hills area of South Dakota recently. One interesting thing is the siren system for the area. The county seems HUGE, so they do have a good number of sirens. One thing that is odd is the number of sirens in small towns. Take Wall for example. They have 2 small Whelens and an Eclass EC-4. Yet the town is TINY. From the right point on the highway you can actually SEE all 3 sirens.

Hill City is another one. Tiny little town with 2 EC-4's. Anyone know why they did this? Just seems strange considering you are installing more equipment than you really need given the size of the area.

Box Elder also has a Thunderbolt that covers the whole town, yet also have a newer T-121.

Indoor coverage maybe? It's quite common to have ridiculous overkill in this region of the country. Lots of weather. Most likely these tiny towns purchased their systems through a grant, which is why you see so many specs of a town with a couple 16V1T's, a T-128, or brand new 2001-130's........
