The Siren Board

Hi,

I noticed that in a recent post that a Whelen Vortex 4 was spotted here in Australia!

We now have in Australia:

3 x Vortex 4's , 2 for Flood Warning and 1 for Fire Warning
2 x WPS2902 for Emergency ALERT at Mining Operations
Multiple WPS2900 series for Flood Warning ranging from WPS2903 to WPS2906

These are connected via telemetry to:

1) Cloud based SCADA applications which we have developed for locations where radio is too expensive (we use both
GSM packet data and SMS modems in each installation) - so can activate directly on site via external IP68 key
switch assembly, via SMS using password and PIN, via the cloud

2) Full Enterprise SCADA application using Schneider RTU, Radio and SCADA Expert ClearSCADA hardware and
software for monitoring and control with GSM packet data backup and encrypted communications

A number of the systems include sound collectors which are adjusted to pick up the siren alerts and broadcasts and confirm that sound has actually been broadcast! There are 2 sound collector boards per siren system to ensure the report is able to be trusted!

The sound collectors can be used for any system that supports telemetry and has an RTU or PLC to accept the 2 digital outputs from the sound collector.

Now this is an interesting topic and I am sad to see that it hasn't garnered any replies so far, that is quite a fascinating system and a set of fascinating controls and activation methods you have. There were a few siren systems hooked up and activated via SCADA Systems but they are now few and far between, I remember back in the early 2000's there were still a bunch of systems that were on the SCADA system but it has fallen out of favor. Very cool topic and thank you for sharing!!
