Two words: Extremely sad. :( However, I also like the sounds of the 3T22, another Thunderbolt, and possibly a 2001.

Hope it's back up soon.

had no idea the solenoids were that loud.

I'm guessing the timer cashed it in?

Oh yea, those solenoids are very loud.

Dereck, is that a Federal FC controller timing the siren? Is the RCM3 getting its timing signal from the aux. relay 3 from the timer? If so, it should be sync'd with relay 1 so the chopper is on at the same time the solenoids are. As for the actual flasher, who knows. I'm using a multi-function timer and DPDT relay to control my solenoids right now since I don't have an RCM3. It's weird how it's wired up.

Could it possibly had been a short in the flasher mechanism that shorted out the timer? But yet the blower smoked when you turned it on, is the oil ok in the blower?

This siren dies half way through the test; after it died we were stuck out there in hot weather all day working on it. Still is out of service.
Is this the first time this siren has malfunctioned?
Doesn't federal still sell AF timers. I may be thinking of a AR timer.

Good save, Derek. It would be a crying shame to see a Thunderbolt go out like that.

Never seen one turn that fast before, ours were always on the second tap up from the slowest spot in the RCM
