Decot red arrow in New Richland, MN historical photo

Mon Oct 30, 2017 9:27 pm

I was looking at historical photos of old towns in MN when I came across this:

Can anyone confirm if this was a Red Arrow siren or just a vent? I can't find any places that look remotely similar to this on Street view to see if it's still there.

I'm beyond certain that's a Red Arrow as opposed to a vent. Nice find!

That is an Erick siren. Erick sirens have the legs fastened onto the bottom of the motor and the shroud paneling is mesh screen like a window. The siren head is always directly coupled to the motor.

There used to be several of these Erick sirens across Minnesota and much of the Midwest in the past.
I also like Erick sirens so it's nice to see more old photos of them.
