I got in touch with the Appleby-in-Westmorland Fire Dept. and they told me that despite not testing their flood warning system, the Castle Castings atop the Fire Station itself is still in active use alongside the Klaxon ES!

There has been videos online with both them sounding recently

Oh, I see. I was led to believe that it was thought to be ‘decommissioned’, as it says so on the map.

Hello!

This is an update on MOD Longtown's siren system (which still appears not to be on the map, but oh well):

So, thanks to user 'Secomak_GP12' (Otherwise known as 'HM SirensAndFireAlarms' on platforms such as YouTube), I have been able to locate one of the site's warning sirens which is visible from the main road! Secomak_GP12 "Saw (a siren-like object) that looked white" from the M6 motorway that runs alongside the site, and prompted me to go down and have a look. I managed to locate a road which would allow me to get a better view than from the M6, so on Monday we headed down there to check it out.

Unfortunately, the white object was not a siren, and actually turned out to be a concrete vent of some description. However, beside it was an orange and black dual-tone siren, which had been mostly invisible from satellite view as it blended in with the building it was installed on. The siren was still quite far away from where we took photos from, and we could not get any closer due to the perimeter fences. I am not entirely sure on the make or model of the siren, I couldn't make out any distinguishing features myself, but perhaps someone with more knowledge than me might be able to identify it.

Another point of interest is that when I recorded Longtown's system, the direction that the sound of the dual-tone siren came from does not match up with this new siren's location, in fact this siren is installed where I predicted the single-toned siren to be situated. What confuses me further is that on the day of the recording, I only heard two sirens sound. I know I shouldn't base something solely on satellite view, but the siren that is at '54.98662728847818, -3.0082701973516244' is definitely dual-tone. So, as far as I'm concerned, I believe that this new siren is most likely inactive. However, I will still attempt to record it at some point to confirm this.

The new siren's location is '54.981360537109104, -3.019961331572023'.

Funnily enough, I have just found the location of another siren.

The Shipcote Cinema (now known as Shipcote Hall) located in Gateshead, Newcastle, originally had what I believe was a World War II Gents siren installed upon it. The siren has since been removed. Someone I know remembered the siren sounding during Civil Defence drills, and he said, understandably, that "If it was going off, you'd know. It was a huge thing".

You can see the siren atop the building's turret.

Hello guys, here is something I have wanted to share for a good while now. This is a Gents of Leicester Type 1472 (Tri-Tone) and it’s located at Kingmoor Park, Carlise. It’s completely inactive with no power to it but before you think about enquiring this please read the rest of this paragraph. A good friend Civil Defence Fox here has told me he asked the security about the siren. Security said the siren is inactive and that it won’t be going anywhere any time soon. They said they had 10+ enquiry emails for the siren which they are completely ignoring on purpose. My friend did try enquiring this and they haven’t emailed back and this was about a year ago. So unfortunately it won’t be going anywhere and will be left to rot. I wanted to keep this quiet but I thought since it’s just going to rot away and stay up there, I would share it with you guys. Rest in peace Gent 🙁
