Abandoned Sentry 10v2t siren in Picher, Oklahoma

My partner and I had a day off and got to do some sight seeing around the tri state area, and ended up making a kind of dumb and dangerous drive through the abandoned mining town, Picher.

I'd say most of the town is behind warning fences now, so we definitely weren't able to get a huge scope. I don't know if this is Picher's only siren but it is the only one I saw. Noticed the building it was next to still had power, so that might mean this siren is still functional.

Wasn't expecting to actually find a siren in the ghost town! So I thought it was pretty neat. I think it's a 10v2t but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. And feel free to contribute if you have any other knowledge about Picher's sirens

Nice find! It's safe to assume it is a 10V2T unless someone hears it.

There's a storm video of Picher in YouTube, and that Sentry can be heard.

Oh wow! That's a really cool find, thanks so much for sharing! I wonder if the famed ef4 that spelled the end of this city was the last time this siren ever sounded? Or if they still maintain it for the sake of the few families that still live in Picher..

Noticed a few pieces are missing from some of the horns.

I did notice that too while I was out there taking pictures, I couldn't tell if it was possible storm damage or a strange modification maybe

I watched the video, and see it is used as a storm siren but, I was about to say, I believe even though it's pretty much a ghost town, that building next to it is an active fire department, I would guess they still use it.

There's a similar situation with here in Centralia, PA. The town is slowly being forced out by the government because an underground fire is burning underneath the village in nearby coal mines. The city used to be 1000+ with around a 10 by 10 city block area. The town now only has 5 houses left, and 1 or 2 of those are unoccupied, ready for demolition by the state. Even with the dwindling numbers, the fire department is still active, running 5-10 members and 1 Engine out of the City Hall/Fire Station Building. The big kicker is, they still have a 3T22 that is an active fire siren which is heard and seen in this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U2JPY2spvA

According to Comments, there's other sirens way in the hills or in neighboring towns, claiming that what is heard is the siren in the deep hills that was once part of Centralia (which I haven't looked on google maps to confirm where), or that it's in Paxton (which I haven't confirmed that it even has a siren), one of the nearby towns. I still believe myself that is the 3T22 siren in the town.
