Durham, NC Thunderbolt Remains

So I while back I found this article about an auditorium in Durham, NC which was torn down in the mid-1980's to make way for a freeway. Next to that auditorium was one of Durham's two Thunderbolts, and that siren was ultimately discarded in the woods and left to rot. (http://www.opendurham.org/buildings/erwin-auditorium)
A couple of days ago I was traveling home to Atlanta from Richmond, Virginia, and I was able to check out the site for the first time. Back in April of 2009, the entire unit was still sitting there, head, blower, control boxes and all. Well, I can confirm that as of 07-28-2018, the remains are still there, for the most part. Oddly enough, it appears as if the siren head is long gone.
I looked around the woods for a little bit, but I found no trace of the siren head. I didn't feel like scouting around for too long since those woods looked like homeless person territory.
Sorry for rather poor quality photos, these were taken with my iPhone camera.
