There was a thread about this some time ago, but this concerns the Soundmaster 125 in Harper, Kansas located near the municipal pool on Main street. Photos coming soon.

The unit has been confirmed nonfunctional and has been replaced by a Federal Signal 2001-130 not far away. The new system includes two Eclipse 8 sirens, and has incorporated an STH-10 into the mix. There was another Soundmaster 125 in the city that had been replaced earlier on.

Wasn't the one that was near a post office or somethin'? The rotation mechanism was (not sure if it's true or not) already messed up (both horns faced opposite directions).

Still, there's still (or there was) one of these in Gibbon (?) MN, no idea if it's still standing or not.

You live in Kansas, right? You should see about obtaining it if its not too much of a hassle.

I recall KentuckySirens finding this one on Google Earth a while back. Cool to see that someone lives close enough to visit it and possibly save it from the scrap heap.

It's in a place where it seems it would be easy to save (flat lot, few overhead obstructions). I sure hope it can be rescued, as I would like to see the insides of it. Also, if the town it's in is anything like a few small towns I know of, it's highly unlikely that they will take it down anytime soon.

From what I understand it's nothing more than an omnidirectional soundmaster with a rotating housing. I think. Someone either on the Facebook page or here posted a blow up/cut away diagram of one.

Yeah, I'd just like to see how the rotation mechanism works and if the rotors are of the same design as ACA.

IIRC the housing relied on some sort of a bevel worm gear assembly, but unfortunately it was known for breaking a lot... Causing both horns to face opposite directions (I think they must face the same direction)

I thought they had some sort of worm gear mechanism and the housing was all in one piece. The custom horn orientations were done after the rotators broke IIRC
