I just bought this siren from a swap meet. The ID plate is painted over. Anyone know what it is?

Well, I've never seen a thing like that before! Judging my the size and the mounting plate I'd say it's vehicular, but otherwise I have nothing...

Any way to rub the paint off the label?

That looks some like an odd siren, you couldn't see where's the choppers.
Probably those at "Post Your Mystery Sirens" thread could help. I can say that's a dedicated thread on asking the most general question; What is this siren?"
PS : Hopefully those at PYMS can accept vehicular & indoor siren entries as well.

Looks almost like a Federal Signal Q.

I removed the housing. There's no ID plate on the siren motor. I also removed the ID plate to see if there's any stamping that can be read on the other side but I couldn't make it out.

To get anything sanding the paint off the ID tag on the outside will probably be your only option.

I'm going to leave it original, the way I found it so scrapping the ID plate is a no go. It was originally red and painted over with yellow. I'm sure someone here will know what it is.
