This is the first Monday of the month test of Electra Texas storm warning sirens. The town has 2 2001s, 2 federal eclipse and 1 thunderbolt 1003. I live between the tbolt and a 2001, but if you listen closely you can hear the eclipse which is west of me about a mile away when the tbolt shuts down. The tbolt is also our fire siren. Also note the activation tones and radio traffic.

I have the video of the 1003 in hi-lo on my favorites on Youtube. One of the few that still sound this signal nowadays.

I never quite understood the layout of the old system. I know there was a SD-10 where one of the 130s now are, but was there nothing on the north end of town? Seems like over coverage on the south side and no coverage on the north. The system now seems pretty good, and I like how you can see the Eclipses from 287. Is the M-10 still up?

Hey everyone. For some reason, i could not post a new update. The site would not let me. But, since i recorded this test, the Thunderbolt 1003 gave up the ghost and has been taken down. It is possibly going to be replaced by a federal eclipse which has been on the outside of the east city limits when there was a manufactoring building out there. That place shut down a few years ago and there is really nothing out there for the siren to cover. Since it is only a few years old, they are possibly going to move it downtown where the tbolt was. So that being said, R.I.P T bolt.s

Well, that absolutely sucks. I was going to go see it over the summer. It's probably something simple, like a blown fuse in the RCM or something. Do you know what they're going to do with it?

I watched them load everything, the head, blower box, standpipe, and control boxes in a trailer and haul it away. I was told they were taking it to the city shop. No idea what they are doing with it. I am sure it can be repaired, but they want to move a newer eclipse to the site. If i hear anything, i will let you all know.

Sad to hear but cool about he Eclipse. Even when that thing was brand new [Eclipse] I thought that them putting it out at the Cameron facility was kinda pointless. Electra has always had kind of an oddly placed system, though. I don't understand how they never had anything on the North side of town near 287 until the 2001 went it. It seems like there would have been an SD-10 or similar like they had down on the South end. It doesn't seem like the Eclipse on the West side does too much either. I don't think the pump jacks care about weather that much, though I guess there are a handful of houses out there.

:-C that's sad that the Thunderbolt 1003 was taken down I guess they just skipped diagnostics and went straight to removing it. It served well as a fire siren and a tornado siren. R.I.P Electra Thunderbolt 1003.
