What's the deal with the Darley STH-10 and 3v8?

Hey, I was just wondering what the story is behind the Darley brand and why there are Darley brand sirens that have the same names, but are different from, other brands of sirens. I'm thinking specifically of the STH-10 and 3v8. I read somewhere that Darley wasn't a manufacturer and only rebranded sirens, but I still don't know why the Darley STH-10 and 3v8 are different from the FS STH-10 and Sentry 3v8. Someone please enlighten me.
(On another note, a Darley 3v8 was just removed from a VFD near my town, which I was disappointed to find out.)

Most likely because W.S. Darley used siren cores from Federal Signal back then. Save for the Champion and 3V8... For the STH-10, I presume they used a modified federal core as well.

For the 3V8, it is very likely that Darley went with their own design... Same for the dual-head Champion along with the vertical Champion as well.

Be wary that this is speculation, however I am certain they used Federal cores for the Model 3, 5 and 7 sirens. (I'm not too sure if Darley had a Model 7 siren...) same as well for the Darley Model 2 (again, not too sure if it ever existed or not... My memory is fuzzy on here)
