The Siren Board

I ventured up to Oak Ridge, TN once again with Peachtreesirens, 4j25, and Sirens of Cincinnati to catch a video of the Alertronic system that is used at the East Tennessee Technology Park. This was formerly part of the K-25 gaseous diffusion plant, but is being re mediated now, so sirens are still necessary. Unfortunately, this siren had bad batteries and we were only able to catch a few seconds of this siren in action. We were however able to catch a really nice ambiance of the other sirens in the system. The issue has been made known, and they are working on fixing it. These sirens are rather loud in person, and pack quite a punch. The sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of the month at 11:00 AM in alert and the system consists of Alertronic 6000Rs and a single, non functional Alertronic 7200. Many of the sirens have fallen in to disrepair, however this siren was still functioning somewhat and as you could hear, there are a few others that still work. Here's the video:
