Based on this quote on their website: " In addition, on the first Wednesday of every month, a test of the siren’s public address system (the voice function) is performed. The public address system may be used to convey messages about emergencies other than tornadoes.", I think they might bring it back once a month, but it could be outdated. I don't understand why they would stop using it since they keep buying 4004s, and the only advantage to them is their voice capability, otherwise they're crap in my opinion. I live about .3 of a mile from one and could barely hear it. A WPS-3000 is about .7 of a mile away, and it was probably just as loud.

Back in the '80s, voice capability seemed like a great concept. It largely has proven to be ineffective.
During tornado warnings, there were many people that were going outside to try to hear what the voice was saying.
I remember the evening drive folks on 610 WTVN making fun of the siren voice.

I still could see it being effective as long as the voice is clear and concise. Voice sirens should be placed closer together since intelligibility doesn’t reach as far. The Whelen rotating sirens are a good idea because the voice is more intelligible when it’s facing you. But the only purpose voice should serve is to alert tourists who may not know that a wailing siren means a tornado is coming.

Yes, as far as I have seen they still do voice (i'm pretty sure every Wednesday) and it still includes DTMF before, and after the test.

4004s and Vortexes are actually very good for electronic sirens. I can hear mine more than clearly from my house which is about 1 mile away. They're definitely an upgrade from the 3016. If yours is quiet though you might wanna record it. If you heard it from inside your house then it's doing its job. After all it is an

Yeah, I honestly just hate electronic sirens though. Don’t get me wrong, they’re cool, but I would never install any if I were in a position to do so.

If anyone is free to record sirens, there are a few 4004's I have certain thoughts about possibly being analog. There are 3 that I am thinking of at the moment. 1 - Brice Mayor's Office @ Elevator St. & Mortz St. 2 - Scioto Downs @ London Groveport Rd. & S High St. 3 - Any 1st Gen WPS-4004 in Reynoldsburg

Doors anyone know why there wasn’t a test last Wednesday? Maybe the 2 sirens which cover my house failed but it doesn’t seem likely, especially since they both have 2030’s. Also, the week before, the siren I heard, also a 2030, went off for 3 minutes.

Can’t speak about Franklin county, but Dublin did not sound any sirens. My guess is the rain scared them off
