AC motor on an early 2001.

I heard that some of the early 2nd gen SRNs used the Model 5 AC motor. Is there any way to tell the difference of an AC only motor from a typical DC motor with AC controls?

Fairly sure there isn't space for a Model 5 motor. I was under the asusmption that all AC-only 2001s were DC sirens powered off of an AC-DC rectifier.

Legend has it there are 3 480VAC 2001s at a hospital in Georgia.

No idea if it was true or not but if it was I'd imagine an easy way to tell would be just by how the wind up sounds. With an AC motor the wind up will be noticeably different, it won't be linear unless it's single phase.

There are/were 3 at the Central State Hospital in Georgia. I'll see about pulling up the locations.

There are only two left. They had a system of four. One was on another building and was on a water tower, both of which were demolished as far as anyone knows. I understand too that the system is not used anymore as the hospital closed in 2010.
