I hate to bring up ancient posts, but I actually went to the building where this is, talked to managers and got permission from the owners of the building (they're actually based in California, and the building is a self storage facility now). The tower that the siren is on is rickety as all get out. I'm actually really surprised it's still standing. The siren itself is in pretty rough shape, probably about 80-90% complete, but seems that everything is seized. Didn't check the rotors though. I may still have pictures of everything. I checked with a few companies about crane rental. With that building, the largest crane of the company I checked with wouldn't reach it. Their crane is hauled in on 3 semi trailers and takes 3 days to set up and tear down IIRC. Basically you'd have to have a 10k forklift going up in the freight elevator (which likely wouldn't fit anyway) to take it down, or you'd need a helicopter. Although the managers on site said the owners have had offers to buy and refused every time.thunderbolt1003 wrote:And also, the last time I checked, I believe that Chrysler is still standing. But I think it's too old for operation...hobbeekid wrote:EOWS 612 wrote:The last Chrysler in Kansas City is about 13 storys up AND on a 1 story high tower.
Does that Chrysler still exist?
