We installed a refurbished yellow Vortex R-4 in Miller, MO earlier this year.

Cannon beach: There is a video for these sirens operating in an ambience, they play sounds of cow mooing to signal it is a test.

 I thought that was fake at first! It turns out there's a bunch of videos of this whelen "moo" tone. They don't really need to say it's a test a million times, I don't know of anybody who would think otherwise.

I looked on Google Maps and it appears that the 2805 is still there! If you go back to 2013 street view, you can clearly see the green paintwork!

That Whelen is a 2750 and the 2805 you see on streetview is ex-UCD and replaced it

Well, that's unfortunate. I'd ask where it went but I doubt anyone knows.

Here's the thing, these were likely custom jobs by the installer or municipality. I've never seen anything suggesting you can order Whelens from the factory in anything aside from the standard colors, and considering how the older units are starting to fade or show the original coloring underneath, it's very likely that these were custom painted units by either the installer or municipality. Such is the case with the SWS 4004 in Deerfield Township or the TRAS Unit in Missouri.

both of the whelens from the trojan nuclear power plant were rattlecanned brown after they were recieved. where the paint has worn away the original grey paint is still there. same goes for the green whelens. I am 99.9% certain they didn't come from the factory like that.
