HA! That SRNB is a garden itself!
Or is that not moss?

Good to see another GA enthusiast on here! Would I be correct in assuming that's in Athens?

not the crustiest 2001 I've seen, but certainly close to it. probably covered in a wonderful mix of bird poop, lichen, and other debris.

Fantastic! I actually just moved here recently (in September) with my parents, all the way from Ardmore, Oklahoma. I'll definitely miss hearing their system of ASC T-128 sirens, but I'm looking forward to documenting the Athens-Clarke County siren system.

And, yep! This 2001-SRNB is technically in Athens. 2450 S Milledge Ave, Athens, GA 30605

This was the dirtiest siren I've seen so far. But seeing as it has a literal forest surrounding it, I wasn't that surprised.

Same here. I saw one that was literally BLACK from this mold.
I have a thing for objects that light up or make noise.

Nice, nice. I'm relatively familiar with Athens's stuff. They've got quite a few 2001s of course which replaced a bunch of thunderbolts in the 90s. If you look around, some of the 2001s are on the old square poles of the thunderbolts, and there are a few empty poles left. I would be happy to give you locations if you like.

This crusty 2001 reminds me of the 130 down at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort Kentucky. It, along with the champion next to it, are COVERED in mossy stuff. I know somewhere on this forum there’s close up pics, if I find it i’ll edit this post and add it.

Pretty much nothing can beat listening to Danny Harmon's railfanning videos while hunting for railroad signals in the middle of nowhere Ohio.

Wow, that sets the record as the NASTIEST siren I've ever seen! 😲

Image

It beats out the one I photographed by a huge margin.
