I wonder what sort of data that graph is measuring to classify a "strong and violent tornado". part of me wonders that because of modern building codes + better alert systems the effect of storms is lessened?
I’m not sure to be honest, but if it’s referencing the Enhanced Fujita Scale, that mainly looks at the type of structures damaged and wind speed, not necessarily loss of life. A lot of modern homes and structures are built with wood, and wood is less durable than brick, which many old buildings are constructed of. A home with at least a brick exterior would seemingly more likely fare better than a wooden home in a tornado. What do you think?
