Mystery Siren from the Vietnam War!

Sat Jan 08, 2022 7:35 pm

Hello siren enthusiasts! Today, I was watching siren videos and I found a video of a siren from the Vietnam War. A little bit info: I reuploaded this to my channel, beacuse the original was in different language. The original video said that this become a noon siren and a 6pm siren, and this was used in the vietnam war. For me it looks like it was designed from a KM Europ (French Siren). I asked on Reddit r/ Siren Enthusiasts what port is this have and they said this is a 12 port siren.

Probably one that is made in Vietnam, they have 50hz power, so it would be more than 12 ports to be peaking at that frequency, probably 14. Looks like 7 horns. It does kind of resemble the older straight horned French sirens (like in the picture), but those ones have a weird design with a 90 degree gearbox driving the rotor, whereas this one has the motor inline with the rotor like normal, and also looks smaller. Could be a design that is loosely based on the French siren, or it could be a coincidence that they look alike.
