Australian Sirens Discussion V2

Wed Jan 12, 2022 4:50 am

Hi all, not too sure if we can keep this sequel to the old topic. If this is granted this will be a discussion topic about the sirens in Australia.

Australia contains under 1000 sirens across Australia. Most are Fire sirens which have either ended up becoming backups or replaced by pagers. Some may still be in use and rarely will be set off for fire drills. Now Shark sirens aren't as common as fire sirens, these sirens are used to alert of sharks that have breached the nets or have entered the beach waters. Most sirens along beaches remain active. Both Shark and Fire sirens do not test as its common to not test. Refinery/Fuel depot sirens are the least common out of the three, these sirens are used to warn of oil spills and other dangers that occur on site. Some have test times, for example Rosehill NSW has an Unkown Elektror model that appears to have a Damper. It tests every Tuesday at noon (photos provided below).

To start the discussion topic, We need help identifying this siren model, there is another one used as a fire siren. It looks like an L241 or S3A, Me and a friend are seeing this siren test next week too,

I should add, it is confirmed to have a Damper, this tests every week in Alert & Pulse - 30 seconds each.

Does anyone know if this could be a Darley Champion? It looks a bit too small to be a champion to me.

Maybe a 2hp, but it seems way too small...

Hello can anyone identify this Fedelcode siren? It was in Vaucluse, Sydney and was used in WW2, 1941.

This looks like a Fedelcode 7 or 5 since there is a large "Fedelcode logo" but Im no federal signal expert. Im trying to find where this used to be in Vaucluse NSW which will be a bit hard.

It was at the Vaucluse council chambers.

Does Australia have any Mods? I could use locations for a map and I'm also curious.
I have a thing for objects that light up or make noise.

We don't have any single federal signal siren in Australia...
