Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has any information about the siren on Bath's City Hall. How long has it been there? Why was it installed originally? Does it still work? Which model is it? Any info would be greatly appreciated by my siren-obsessed son.
Thank you!

So i looked at the siren in question for you. It is a Whelen 3000. Now i dont live anywhere Near the siren but this model was produced in the 1980s and 90s so it is a nearly 40 yo siren. It was like most newer sirens installed for weather warning. My guess is it still works as it looks to be in good shape.

Nope, you're wrong. It was part of the Maine Yankee Nuke plant siren system. When the plant was decommissioned the plant gave the towns the options to keep the sirens, which resulted in some leftover Whelens and 1212s scattered around the EPZ (all of which are likely inactive). The 3000 is inactive and hasn't rotated for years
