I've been working on a map of every known Sterling Siren to have existed for the past 5 or so months, and I have come across many weird things during that time.

This, however, is the crown jewel of all oddities and atrocities...

This one might be a winner. Now, we need someone to record this. I know lots of people will be itching to see a video of it rotate.

Jesus Joseph and Mary who in their right mind thought that was a good idea. What a travesty

I'm actually impressed that they managed to even pull this off.

The thought of a rotating Sterling almost unsettles me. Zero idea what benefits come from this but... I appreciate the effort?
That really would be cool to see in action!
Pretty much nothing can beat listening to Danny Harmon's railfanning videos while hunting for railroad signals in the middle of nowhere Ohio.

........A few thoughts on the rotating Model M
Full disclosure....I am nowhere as knowledgeable as most on the forums, so some of what I say might seem odd.

I can fully understand and appreciate the siren purist opinions on why would anyone do such a thing to a Sterling Model M, with that being said however, if someone told me that a Model M does not/never did rotate I wouldn't know any better due to my lack of knowledge on this particular siren ....never too old to learn something new ;)

Does anyone care to guess what type of set up serves as the rotating portion of this siren...I would be very curious to find out.

Please correct me if I'm way out in Left field, but with this siren now rotating 360` wouldn't that provide more coverage than its original set up. If 360` coverage is heard by more of the local population, isn't that achieving the ultimate goal by re purposing this siren? I would imagine that the local municipality who is responsible for this siren had it overhauled and refurbished before placing it back in service thus increasing its useful capacity by many more years. They must have a pretty smart crew working in the maintenance shop to conceive such an idea.
