Hey all, I was driving through NY and snagged a couple of pictures along the way.
Here's the streetview of the Thunderbolt; compared to my picture, it rotated 90 degrees.

The newer thunderbolts blow around in the wind all the time. They have a clutch that engages or disengages (I think that's how it works) if wind is blowing on it so it doesn't ruin the mechanism.

I had a feeling, but I didn't know they had a clutch. Thanks for the heads up!

Went on another excursion. This time I was on the far west side of the state for a special trip, as you can see.
Edit: It's a Model D, my apologies for the misprint.
