T-121 or Random Horns

Fri Mar 24, 2023 1:04 pm

I accidently discovered this thing in Pottsville PA and from first glance, I was sure it was a Tempest. However, I began to doubt my claim after getting a closer look. Anybody know what it is?

Not sure what it is, although it somewhat resembles a speaker array. I wish you good luck on finding a lead on this one.

They seem to be speakers. There is no visible motor, and if you look from a different angle, there seems to be something inside the horns, resembling a driver.

Hello, fellow siren enthusiasts. I am losing interest, but will be back on the board from time to time.

Yep, those are definitely some sort of speaker array.
Not sure what they’re for though…

Appears to be atop a building called the Schuylkill Trust Company, formerly a US bank established 1910. I guess and suspect those are digital carillon bells but why that building I'm not sure. It's possible it was the ideal spot for it, since it's high up.

Elec. Bells make sense.

Same building, the array can be seen here with 6 or 8 (?) horns.

Apparently, this isn't the only bank building with a carillon bell system in PA, but Bremerton has one atop the Chase Bank building according to this archived article: https://archive.kitsapsun.com/news/loca ... 4391.html/

On streetview to me it doesn't look like an STL-10.
