Rolling Fork MS gets new warning system

Tue May 30, 2023 4:38 pm

In the aftermath of deadly and destructive tornadoes in MS earlier this year, one of the hardest hit communities gets an upgrade in warning capabilities. Big props to Sentry Sirens, Table Rock Alerting, and Sirens For Cities for making it happen. Here's the story from ABC affiliate WAPT in Jackson MS

Sentry Siren is a cool company, donating sirens to cities in need.
Wait, the old one is a Thunderbeam!

Proud owner of a Lion King LK-100 hand crank siren. I also can also brag about riding behind a "Climax" locomotive...almost 10 years later.

Looks like Sentry donated the new siren. Sirens For Cities (Southeastern US Sentry distributor) handled the new siren installation and Table Rock Alerting handled the refurbishing of Rolling Fork's Federal 2001. Also the activation system was repaired. Looks like the 2001 only really needed some new deep cycle batteries and a little TLC. Not sure about the Thunderbeam head that was on the trailer.

Wait, so the old one's a 2001 and not a Thunderbeam, this just got a lot stranger.

The only siren I was aware that RF had was the 2001. It's possible that the Thunderbeam was part of something unrelated.
